Acceptance &
Commitment
THERAPY
near San Jose, California
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps people handle difficult thoughts and feelings more effectively.
Instead of trying to eliminate anxiety or discomfort, ACT teaches you how to relate to those experiences in a new way, so they no longer hold you back from living the life you want.
I offer ACT therapy at my in-person office near San Jose and online throughout California for individuals struggling with OCD, anxiety, perfectionism, and more. ACT provides tools that help you move forward with greater clarity, flexibility, and purpose.
How ACT WORKS
ACT is built on six core processes that help you become more psychologically flexible—the ability to stay present and take meaningful action even in the face of emotional or mental discomfort. In my San Jose-based practice, I use ACT to teach clients skills such as:

Acceptance
Making room for uncomfortable thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them

Values
Clarifying what truly matters to you

Cognitive Defusion
Gaining distance from thoughts so they have less control over your behavior

Committed Action
Taking steps toward your values, even when it's hard

Mindfulness
Staying grounded in the present moment

Self-as-Context
Developing a stable sense of self beyond your thoughts and emotions

ACT + CBT + ERP: A Comprehensive Approach
ACT is compatible with other evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). These therapies are often used together for treating anxiety and OCD. While CBT focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts, and ERP encourages you to face your fears without ritualizing, ACT strengthens this work by helping you stay grounded in your values—even when discomfort shows up.
In my San Jose practice and through online therapy across California, I often use ACT with CBT and ERP as part of a flexible, compassionate approach to anxiety treatment. This integrative approach can be especially helpful when you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed by anxiety, compulsions, or intrusive thoughts.
Personalized Support
ACT is not a one-size-fits-all model. Whether you’re in San Jose or anywhere in California, we’ll tailor therapy to your specific needs, values, and goals. My approach to ACT is collaborative and compassionate—I want therapy to feel useful, relevant, and deeply connected to what you care about most. Together, we’ll identify meaningful directions for your life and build the skills to help you move forward, even when things feel hard.
